Heian SHODAN - Peace and Tranquility (Initial Level)

 

 

TAIKYOKU (The Creation): This is, in fact, three Kata in order Shodan, Nidan and Sandani. Must be the way for beginners because it is the easiest of the kata to be learned. Consists of blocks and attacks more useful in practice of basic techniques. The Ten No Kata and Kata (described below) are the product of many years of research on the art of Karate. When practiced regularly result in the development of the body balanced and stable ability to support the body correctly. In addition, the student who has acquired proficiency in basic techniques and understand the essence of Kata Taikyoku, will enhance the real meaning of this principle: "In karate there is no advantage in the first attack."

Heian Sandani - Peace and Tranquility (level three)

 

 

Heian (The Mind Tranquila): There are five forms of Heian containing a variety of techniques, is almost all related to basic postures. Someone who has learned these five forms can be sure that it is able to defend themselves with great ability in most situations. The meaning of the name should be taken into consideration in this context. It is observed that the forms listed here as Shodan (first) and Nidan (second) are in inverse relation to their traditional order. This change was made after considering its various points of difficulty and to ease teaching.

Tekka SHODAN - Iron Knight (Initial Level)

 

 

Tekka (horse riding): The name refers to the distinctive feature of this Kata is your stance Kiba-Dach, like horse riding. Here the legs are very well positioned open, as if you were sitting in the back of a horse, and tension is applied to outer edges of the soles of the feet with the sensation of concentrating the force toward the center.

KANKU-DAI - Contemplating the Sky

 

 

KANKU (Look To The Sky): The name of this Kata is derived from the same originally introduced by Ku shanku, of the Chinese army. The name refers to the first movement of the Kata, which raises up his hands and looks up to heaven.

 

 

KANKU-SHO - Contemplating the Sky

 

 

JUTTA - Ten Hands (technical or ten)

 

 

Jutta (Ten Hands): The remaining forms are in the style Shore, the movements are a bit heavier when compared to the style Shorin. The posture is very bold. Provide a good physical conditioning, while difficult for beginners. Jutta name suggests someone who has learned this Kata is as effective as ten men at once.

 

 

HANGETSU - Half Moon

 

 

HANGETSU (Half Moon): In forward movements in this Kata, are described semicircle with hands and feet so characteristic, and its name derived from that fact.

 

 

Empi - Flight of Andorinha

 

 

Empi (The Flight Of Andorinha): The characteristic of this Kata is handling the attack at a level above the ground. Following is a safe and induces opoente to remain in a particular position, while moving and attacking again. The movement is the quick and agile flight of the swallow.

 

 

GANKAKU - Grou (Tsuru) About the Rock

 

 

GANKAKU (The Inn At Stone Garça): The characteristic of this Kata is the position in one leg that occurs repeatedly. It represents the vision of a magnificent heron inn in total balance on a rock, about to embark on their victim.

 

 

JION - love and gratitude

 

 

JION: This is the original name and has appeared frequently in Chinese literature from ancient times. The Jionji is a famous old Buddhist temple, and there is a well known Buddhist saint named Jion. The name suggests that Kata has been introduced by someone identified with the Temple Jion and the name Shorin-ji Kempo comes from a relationship with the Temple Shorin.

UNSU - Hands of Clouds

 

 

UNSU: The Kata with the style of the Dragon by Master Aragaki. Where he trained was not aware, but the major influences in Chinese suggest that Kata was certainly in mainland Chinese. The name used on Okinawa is Unshou and means "Defense Against The Cloud", or even if their enemies surrounding you like a cloud, for sure you will overcome them if you have learned the Unsu.

MEIKYO - Mirror Clean

 

 

MEIKYO: This is a very mysterious Kata. It is assumed that the Japanese knew well before that Master Funakoshi has introduced the Karate of Okinawa in Japan there is even a Japanese legend about Ameratsu, the goddess of the sun. She had lost her mirror and could not be astonished, but very boring. Thus, the world was in darkness. Finally the other gods decided that something should be done, then sent a great warrior to perform the "Dance War" outside the cave. The "Dance War" was named Meikyo. Meikyo is translated as "The Mirror of the soul." The old name for Meikyo was Rohai, which is now returning to use.
